A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER

Let me start with the thing you've been waiting your whole life to hear someone say out loud: you are not a burden. Not to your family. Not to your friends. Not to the person who loves you. Not to this world. You've spent years apologizing for a body you did not choose, shrinking yourself to make other people comfortable, saying "sorry" when what you meant was "help me." I'm not saying this to be kind. I'm saying it because it's true. We see you. And we see what you carry. The pain that shows on no one's face but yours. The nights you never told anybody about.

The plans you cancelled and the excuses you gave instead of the truth. The money that disappeared into a hospital bill you never budgeted for. The way you measure a day before it even starts. Nobody hands out medals for that, but I know exactly what it costs, because I'm living it too.

The world looks at you and sees a diagnosis. A genotype. A "sickler." As though everything else; your ambition, your career, your money, your relationships, your dreams are background noise. But sickle cell doesn't stay in the hospital. It follows you into the office, into your bank account, into the quiet moments when you wonder if you're allowed to want more. You are not one thing. You never were.

That's why this community exists. Here's what happens now:

  • You'll hear from us every Thursday; The Beyond Brief, with one useful tool, one warrior's story, and real opportunities

  • Our WhatsApp community is where we actually live: daily check-ins, honest conversation, people who get it without explanation

  • Workshops and clinics across everything sickle cell touches: your health, your career, your finances, your business, your growth

  • You choose your focus; tell us which areas matter most to you and we'll point you there first

Surviving was never supposed to be the goal. You were built to thrive, and we're here to make sure you do.

With everything I’ve got,
Halimat Magaji
